Massless Energy: Structure Becomes Lighter

Massless Energy: Structure Becomes Lighter

This is a technological megatrend. Dumb load-bearing metal structures move to plastic and composite and incorporate energy harvesting and storage material - massless energy. Indeed you could call some of it negative mass energy. Goodbye components-in-a-box.

AWE should be seen as part of a bigger picture. The next generation of zero emission electricity producing technologies has no huge steel and concrete infrastructure, so it can have much less cost and installation time and making it redeployable.

The future of diesel gensets: what are the long term prospects?

The future of diesel gensets: what are the long term prospects?

With most of the big players posting healthy figures in Q2, diesel genset revenues are showing continued growth throughout 2018. Are these results a sign of things to come or are they merely delaying an inevitable future decline?

What can we do with 100GWh of retired electric vehicle batteries?

What can we do with 100GWh of retired electric vehicle batteries?

More and more companies are exploring how to extract value by repurposing a second-life for those retired but still capable car batteries in less-demanding applications such as stationary energy storage.

Redefining the 'end-of-life' of retired electric vehicle batteries

Redefining the 'end-of-life' of retired electric vehicle batteries

Consumer batteries such as those used in power tools, mobile phones and laptops are normally recycled/disposed after their service life - that's what we normally refer to as the 'end-of-life' of the batteries. However, retired car batteries that are no longer suitable for electric cars could still hold sufficient capacity for second life applications. The 'end-of-life' of an electric car battery needs to be redefined as they could be further used, for example, for another 10 years or even longer in various post-vehicle applications before they are finally recycled/disposed.
